"It's hard to believe that the Soul Stirrers have been performing more than six decades, and yet many people in America have never heard their music. Considering the many vocal innovations introduced by the Soul Stirrers' lead singer, R.H. Harris, it must have been awesome to see and hear the Soul Stirrers in the 30's and 40's. As one of the greatest lead singers of his era, R.H. Harris influenced many aspiring young singers, not the least of which was his prized pupil and protégé, Sam Cooke.

When R.H. left The Soul Stirrers, Sam Cooke stepped into the lead singer's role and the group never lost a step. Sam carried the genre to another level, and his performances both live and recorded will go down as masterful gems to be revered and imitated forever.

Sam's legacy was carried on by many talented successors from the late great Johnny Taylor to now "The Wonderful" Willie Rogers. The talent of Willie Rogers, the production expertise of Gene Barge, and the addition of the Push/Rainbow Coalition Choir creates an exciting mix that reprises the material of Sam and the Soul Stirrers of yesterday.

I believe that it is about time that people everywhere should hear this music and with the help of New Haven Records, the Push/Rainbow Coalition and gospel music lovers world wide, the Soul Stirrers will reach the next level and beyond.

The Push/Rainbow Coalition is proud of its association with Willie Rogers and the Soul Stirrers and we're sure that the feeling is mutual.

In conclusion, we know that God, our Executive Producer, will direct our paths towards the Highway of Success".

Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr.
